Educator's Guide

Within the scope of interlocking concrete pavements, this site aims to empower you as a Landscape Architect educator with engaging and easily-digestible learning tools; to connect you with a plethora of online resources; to prepare you to introduce ICPs within studio projects; and finally, to allow you the opportunity to share your own ICP curriculum and student work.

We hope you will utilize all that is available on the site, comment on shared work, and contribute to what we hope becomes the go-to source for interlocking concrete pavement knowledge.

Here is a checklist to guide your path >>>

Landscape Performance: PaveShare recognizes the need within the landscape architecture profession to demonstrate the economic,
environmental and social benefits of landscape designs and supporting systems. Communicating performance benefits is increasingly important, and the Landscape Architecture Foundation has developed an interactive set of resources to teach landscape performance.
For examples of (real) course syllabi, course descriptions, student deliverables and faculty reflections, visit the Landscape Performance Series' resources for educators here.

Lessons

We've grouped important aspects of concrete paver education into 3 easy to follow lessons for you to point students to or walk them through directly.  Check them out:
  • Loading Basics
  • Loading Advanced
  • Permeable Design

Interactive Animations

A set of interactive animations encourage students to explore and better understand key concepts of design and paver application, including stormwater and loading. These concepts are critical to the design of civic squares, streetscapes, plazas, paths and other spaces with which landscape architects work.

Studio Projects

We've included a set of student projects that link and build on one another, starting with research and site analysis, moving to design abstractions and development, and finishing with implementation details and mock-ups. Educators may integrate any or all of these projects into existing studio coursework.

Presentations

Each presentation is followed by a online quiz that tests understanding of presentation concepts.  Students will answer multiple-choice questions then submit for instant grading.  Any incorrect answers can be corrected and resubmitted.
